About Jumpin' Jeff

Jumpin' Jeff (Jeff Stewart) was born in Houston, Texas in 1956. He grew up in a household that loved music; his mom played the classical violin and his grandmother played the piano. This along with his dad’s love for big bands made him grow into a universal lover for music, especially American music.

He went to college at University of Houston and then moved to northern California in the 80’s.

After some time doing real estate, Jeff decided to pursue his life-long dream of having a restaurant.

He had noticed, coming from Texas, that none of the barbecue in California was quite like it had been back home.

So that’s when he knew that he wanted buy The Chief in Laytonville, CA and transform it into The Chief Smokehouse, a restaurant dedicated to real American barbecue and music.

He’s now owned The Chief since 2008 and continues to make it better and better.

Besides liking good music & bbq (a great combo) Jeff also likes the idea of great local radio broadcasting.
